Lyrically Rap’s Fav5 New Song Releases – August Week 3

Another week and a lot of hard decisions to be made on our New Release Favorites. Lyrically Rap's Fav5 is a weekly feature where we share our favorite 5 Lyrical Rap songs released from the last week. This week we feature some bangers from FNX, Jarren Benton, Versvs, Mark Battles & Nas. The songs are listed in no particular order below. We hope you like our picks, and please let us know in the comments what some of your favorite releases were.

Lyrically Rap Feature: Versvs. Taking Over the Lyrical Mainstage!

This week I was lucky enough to hear the new release from Versvs & Royce Da 5’9” “Enough for You”. The song is great. It’s a lyrical masterpiece. Of course, Royce’s name on any song is going to carry it’s own weight. Versvs holds his own though. There’s a reason why Crooked, Royce, Futuristic, Eazy Mac, Gawne, just to name a few, have worked with Versvs. He’s really, really good

Happy Birthday Hip Hop! Thank You DJ Kool Herc!

47 years ago, the party was just about to kick off. DJ Kool Herc was hyped to be performing for his largest crowd, at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. It was his DJ Kool Herc sister's birthday party where the first sounds of Hip Hop were heard. Tonight, 47 years ago, Hip Hop History was made. August 11, 1973.

Entry 2 of our new feature, Fav5, where we like to promote Five of our Favorite new lyrical rap songs. We may not capture every great release out there, but we hope what we do share is a sound that's fresh to you. New quality music from quality people.

Durand: Lyrically Rap Hidden Gem

Lyrical Rap is sometimes hard to find. There’s a lot of music out there, and a lot of ways to listen to it. What the streaming platforms and radios promote, may not always be quality hip hop. If you listen to a lot lyrical rap like us, your playlist and streaming radio stations start circling around the same songs. It’s the failure of the algorithm. There are times where the algorithm works though.

The First Song of Every Eminem Album

Eminem has been in the game a long, long time. His first released album came out back in 1996. Infinite is lesser known but is full of raw hits, produced by Web Entertainment. Web Entertainment also produced Em's more well known release, The Slim Shady LP, which was used to sell Dr. Dre and the Aftermath label. I thought it would be fun to go back in history and take a look at all the first songs on Eminem's albums. I'm not going to rate them or anything. Everything Slim puts out is gold in my opinion. We'll just go from Infinite to Music to be Murdered By. I'll skip over the intros to each album and only grab the first song of each album.

Hidden Gem Spotlight: Logvn – Lyrically Rap with a Deep Message

Logvn is a hidden Lyrical Gem from Cleveland, Ohio. He raps about subjects that are real, true to himself. There are dark undertones, windows into realities we often don't get to look into. Realities that are all to common with many of us. He gives us his stories in a multitude of lyrical flows, over well crafted musical production.
