Why do we do what we do? That’s a question that was recently asked of us by an artist and it got us thinking. Why do we do what we do? Well it turns out that’s not really a tough question to answer at all.
Let me start by letting yall know a little about us. I go by Marshall, and me and my homie, Hoosier(pen names obviously) have been very close friends for a long time now and have had similar challenges faced upon us in our lifetimes. Growing up we always found solace in hip hop music and its one thing that we can always relate to in one way or another. Whatever life threw at us, and trust me there was a lot, there was always that one thing to fall back on to keep our heads somewhat straight. It was like our crutch when we needed it the most. Whatever was going on, hip hop was always there.
So why do we try and promote lyrical rap music and not that mumble crap that’s pushed down our throats every waking day? Again the answer is very simple.
It’s real hip hop music! Go ahead call me an old head all you want, but this is what hip hop music should be in our eyes.
The artists that we choose to promote have substance. They have a message. They rap about real life experiences and they are all extremely talented. Life is not all about partying and bitches, and lean, and who has the most views on the gram. Sure we love a good club banger as much as the next hip hop head, but real life is a whole different ball game fam.
This is what mainstream hip hop used to be.
Case in point:
Our mission is to get real quality hip hop back into the mainstream where it belongs. Whatever part we can play, no matter how big or small it may be, to help bring this culture forward, we will do to our fullest abilities.
So check out Durand, Buggie, Riddy K, Jay Greene, FNX, Versvs, Chris Webby, Ekoh, Tech N9NE, King Iso, Matter, Joell Ortiz, Kxng Crooked, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, ItsXMusic, and so many more true lyrical rap artists. The list goes on and on. Honestly, there’s too many to name in one article. There are a lot of amazing artists out there who share the same passion that we do and we need to give them all the love we can.
So why do we do what we do?
Its all about the hip hop fam!
